Olympic Dermatology
and Laser Clinic now uses a MedLite C6 Q-Switched
YAG laser for laser tattoo and pigmented lesion removal.
The Q-Switched YAG laser creates an invisible beam
of light that is pulsed at a billionth of a second.
The device creates a photoacoustic effect which
breaks up tattoo particles. The tattoo slowly fades
over a 6 to 8 week period. With older technology,
only black, blue and red tattoo inks could be
removed. The MedLite C6 will now allow us to treat a
multitude of today’s more challenging colors
including sky blue and green. This new system
utilizes 4 different wavelengths of light to improve
the safety and effectiveness of each treatment.A series of laser tattoo removal treatments are required depending on
the type of tattoo (professional versus amateur),
type of ink, and body location. Treatments are
usually spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart. Laser tattoo removal
with the Q-switched YAG laser feels like a hot snap
with a rubber band or splatter with grease. Topical
skin anesthetics are available.
The MedLite YAG laser can also be used to treat a
variety of epidermal and dermal pigmented lesions
including brown age spots, Café’-au-lait lesions,
and Nevus of Ota. Extensive world-wide research has
safely shown clearance of these lesions with little
to no risk or side effects, especially on darker
skin type patients.
A free laser tattoo removal consultation with our aesthetic staff can
help design a treatment plan specific to your
lifestyle and needs.
