Thermage™ Procedure, Facial Skin Tightening

The Thermage™ procedure, a facial skin tightening and skin rejuvenation treatment, has the ability to tighten skin of the jaw line, face, and upper neck using radio frequency technology. This procedure uses a radio frequency device that tightens the skin without injury to the skin’s top layer (epidermis). In the hands of our skilled Physician-nurse team, the Thermage technology provides toning, contouring, tightening, and rejuvenation without stitching, cutting, bruising, or down time.

Olympic Dermatology and Laser Clinic is a leader in the use of this exciting technology. By incorporating a larger treatment tip with multiple passes, our patients are enjoying even more tissue tightening and contouring effects. Our Clinic first offered the Thermage™ procedure in
March 2003. Since then, we have become a Northwest leader with our involvement in Thermage’s™ FDA clinical studies and as Washington’s first clinic recognized by Thermage for advanced education and training.

The Thermacool™ device generates heat in the deep layers of the skin, while a chilled mist cools and protects the skin’s outer surface. Heating deep tissue layers produces a gradual skin tightening and lifts sagging eyebrows, jaw lines, cheeks and the neck. The Thermage™ skin rejuvenation treatment also stimulates collagen production which improves skin tone and texture.

After 2 months

Patients usually have the procedure performed under a topical anesthesia and an oral narcotic pain reliever. A typical procedure can last about 2 hours. After the treatment, patients go home and resume their normal activities. Some patients occasionally experience mild redness or some puffiness for several days after the procedure.

For many patients, one to two treatments will suffice. Additional treatment(s) may be needed to achieve the desired improvements. However, since benefits gradually appear over 4 to 6 months, additional treatment(s) are not usually performed until 4 to 6 months after the initial procedure.
