Part of facial rejuvenation is the correction of deeper (dermal) skin defects like furrows, deep wrinkles and acne scars, and restoring or enhancing the natural contour and fullness of the lips. Traditionally this has been done with collagen fillers, Cosmoplast and Cosmoderm. These are laboratory-produced, exact copies of normal human collagen formulated for long-term correction of dermal defects. Recently, we introduced Restylane as an option. Restylane is based on hyaluronic acid, which provides most of the natural “plumpness” that makes your skin look smooth and healthy. Restylane provides longer lasting correction, up to 9 months in duration.
